By now you know, and we have repeated it several times, the best way to feed our dogs is by giving them specific food. On several occasions we have warned you of the dangers that can arise from feeding our pets with food for humans. However,  there are natural treats that will make your little friend’s mouth water, and that you can give him without fear that they will hurt him.

Let’s see what they are:

  • Apples. No matter the color and variety, all dogs love apples. Their sweet taste, with an acid touch, conquers everyone, including dogs. You can give them as a reward when he behaves well, at any time of the day. With a precaution: remember to deprive them of the seeds, as these could be harmful to your dog’s body.
  • Strawberries. One of the natural treats that will make your dog happy. The only downside is that you could buy them for your dog and not resist eating them yourself.
  • Blueberries. Small, easy to chew and succulent. Sweet and fresh, they will make your dog love you even more after choosing these completely natural treats for him.
  • Bananas. Their tender texture will thrill your dog. But remember that it is a treat, do not give it a whole banana. All foods, if consumed in excess, have contraindications, but if cut into small pieces and sparingly, the banana will be one of the best natural treats for your dog.
  • Watermelon. When you come home in the summer, after the walk, when he arrives home thirsty, try giving your dog a small piece of fresh watermelon. It will drive him crazy for sure! It will also help him hydrate and pee more, purifying himself from the inside. As with apples, pay attention to the seeds.
  • Carrots. One of the natural sweets that will excite him the most. You can give it cooked or raw, as well as being one of the healthiest of these natural treats, it will strengthen his teeth.
  • Pop corn. Just like us humans, dogs love popcorn. When you go to the movies, or make popcorn at home, remember to save some of these natural treats for your dog. Be careful to separate the part for the dog from yours before adding salt or sugar, as these additives could be dangerous for his body.
  • Sweet potato or sweet potato, boiled or baked, is easy to chew and digest, but at the same time this authentic natural dog treat will leave an unforgettable taste in your puppy’s mouth.
  • Who can resist passion fruit? Nobody, not even dogs. You can choose this natural treat for your dog whenever you want, remembering to administer it in small doses.

Almost any fruit that contains seeds can be potentially dangerous for your dog.

For this reason we recommend that, whenever you decide to give your dog some fruit as a natural treat, carefully remove the seeds.

Having a large number of fruits and vegetables included in the list of possible natural dog treats does not mean that all fruits and vegetables are fine. In fact,  there are fruits and vegetables to be absolutely avoided, totally prohibited as they can jeopardize the health of your pet, these are:

  • Peaches
  • Grape
  • Tomatoes
  • Macadamia nuts
  • Avocado
  • Mushrooms

Also, do not forget that anything that is a delicacy for us humans could be a poison for our dog, such as chocolate.

It is one of the totally prohibited foods for dogs, as it could poison them, and even kill them.

Remember that these natural treats are for your dogs simply and only this: treats. Therefore, they must be occasional prizes that do not serve to supplement the diet and much less can they be a substitute for meals.  They will need to be administered moderately, from time to time, and in small doses.

Use them to reward your faithful friend, to gratify him or simply as a show of affection: success is guaranteed!
