Little Kangaroo Adopted In Australia By A Police Station
We always say that animals never cease to surprise us but, sometimes, neither do humans, as on this occasion. This story proves that with love you can achieve anything and that animals do not distinguish in color or appearance. This is the incredible story of Cuejo, a kangaroo cub.
The story of Cuejo, the little kangaroo
Australia, the kingdom of this very particular species, is littered with danger road signs placed along the carriageway, which force cars to slow down so as not to be caught unprepared if a kangaroo unexpectedly crosses the road.
In fact, kangaroos are a very protected species in Australia, and for this reason they are out of danger of extinction, at least for now.
Cases of road investments by these animals are not very frequent, but the mother of Cuejo, the little kangaroo, did not have the same luck.
In fact, a truck hit her and killed her instantly, but little Cuejo was saved – perhaps because he came out of the pouch due to the impact, or perhaps because he was behind his mother at the time of the accident. The fact is that, when the police arrived at the scene of the accident, Cuejo was found alive next to his mother’s body.
Scott Mason, one of the agents who intervened at the scene of the accident, decided to take Cuejo to the police station and then decide what to do with him and which was the best center to take him to.

It wasn’t that difficult to make a decision about it. It was Cuejo who decided in minutes who his new mom would be… sorry, his new dad: Scott Mason. On the one hand, Cuejo, the little kangaroo, who started using Scott’s shirt as a pouch bag, finding it very comfortable, on the other, Scott, who seemed anything but bothered by the puppy’s attentions.
Cuejo did nothing but jump, following Scott throughout the police station. No matter where the agent was, on the stairs or in the elevator, he always had his new “son” by his side.
Scott asked social networks for help to name his new little friend. The name chosen was Cuejo, which, according to some close sources, is the result of the union between Cue (the town where Scott’s police station is located) and Joey.
Finding no viable alternatives, the authorities allowed Cuejo and Scott to stay together. Cuejo immediately seemed happy, and Scott, as you will see in the video we shared at the end of this article, seemed equally satisfied.
The intent of this coexistence was not to find a mascot for the police station, but to allow Cuejo to grow healthy and soon be free once he was ready for life outside the walls of his new home, the Cue police station.
There are many incredibly tender images that portray the new dad with his baby, where the little one drinks from the bottle or takes refuge in the uniform shirt of his new “mother”.
Scott immediately held himself responsible for the fate of Cuejo and never backed down, taking on all the responsibilities involved in caring for an animal like a kangaroo. On the contrary, all the videos and images always show him smiling, which suggests that he made this commitment with joy and not with regret.
We have been fascinated by the existence of wonderful people like Scott Manson, who care for the lives of other living beings in need and worthy of attention. Wish there were more people like him in the world!
At the same time, Cuejo’s behavior towards Scott teaches us something else. Animals are not born with the fear of man: these fears arise from the fear that we can harm them. Love can do everything, love is never wrong. This story is proof that if we changed the engine of the world, money, with love, would be all very different ; not only in relationships between people, but also between people and animals.
