Chihuahuas Are More Aggressive Than Pitbulls

Chihuahuas are more aggressive than Pit Bulls

For many years, Pitbull Terriers have been considered to be among the most aggressive dog breeds .  However, one study reveals that these dogs are much quieter than Chihuahuas, who are famous for their small size and large doses of nervousness.

Studies carried out on Chihuahuas

The Dognition page recently published an article telling us about a study in which dogs’ aggression was measured in different situations . Their aggression in the presence of new or known people, children, known or new dogs, small, large, etc.

Of all the breeds studied, Chihuahuas were found to be the most aggressive, especially with large dogs they had never seen before.

The study, however, has other surprises in store for us. It reveals that Pit Bull Terriers have been rated as one of the least aggressive breeds.

The results show us that our ideas are wrong. The Pitbull Terrier breed is very quiet, while the most restless and aggressive were the Chiuhuahuas.

A total of four thousand people, dog owners, participated in the research.

It is curious that of the 35 most common dog breeds, Chihuahuas were the least docile and quiet. It was particularly surprising when compared to larger dogs.

The study points out that Chihuahuas in most cases were defined by their owners as moderately aggressive. However, it is clear that this is the case compared to other dogs.

As the study recalls, this prejudice is even more accentuated because many breeds are often confused with Pitbulls.

This fact is important to put an end to these prejudices and even to ensure that Pitbull Terrier owners do not project the aggression they believe their dogs have by behaving aggressively towards their pets.

Canine behavior

A dog’s behavior depends a lot on how he is raised.

A dog is said to absorb the behavior and attitudes of its owners. The response of his masters to certain situations also has a great influence.

The stigmatization of Pitbulls

This social stigmatization is by no means new. The reputation as a dangerous dog that the Pitbull has has led to talk about it in politics and in cultural settings. Even the Russian writer Dostoyevski called him a “terrible beast”.

The media also help foment prejudice against Pitbulls.

As an example, in 2008 a Pitbull attacked a woman who had to be taken to the hospital. This fact has generated 230 articles and dozens of television reports, both in national and international networks.

A few days before the incident, a half-breed dog had killed a 16-month-old baby and only a local newspaper had reported the news.

Many people believe that larger dogs are the most aggressive or violent and that smaller dogs, on the other hand, are more cuddly and quiet.

These popular beliefs have led to Pit Bulls being included among the most dangerous dog breeds in 900 cities around the world . Laws have been promulgated ranging from the obligation of the muzzle to the practice of euthanasia.

Characteristics of Chihuahuas

It is a small breed, well known for its small size.

In addition to being an adorable pet, it is an intelligent, active and curious companion, who will offer a universe of affection to those who take care of it.

It is originally from Mexico, from the state of Chihuahua, where it was first discovered.

The Chihuahua does not have a breed-defined personality. Based on the education he has received, we can speak of an affectionate and tender dog or a somewhat spiteful and cunning animal.

He is a very intelligent dog and a great observer,  who likes to impose his will.

Chihuahuas are also very courageous and faithful animals despite their small size. They are very devoted to the family and are always alert and active, at attention in the presence of any intruder.

They are often very jealous of their masters. In many cases they are unaware of their small size, which leads them to confront large dogs or people in defense of their owners.
