Our Every Caress Makes The Dog Happy

Each of our caresses makes the dog happy

From the first day our dog arrived home, he clearly showed us when he needs us and how much he loves us. His love was immediately unconditional and he was always grateful to us for any gesture of love, however small, that we dedicated to him.

Your dog has transformed coexistence into a caress game that cannot be ignored, because he himself claims them. He will never allow you to leave the house kissing your partner or your children without giving him a caress too. He will look at you with a sad face in the style of Puss in Boots from the Shrek movie, do you remember? Who could resist such a look?

Although it is true that there are times when your dog is super independent and that no matter how much you seek him, he does not pay attention to you. How to know when the dog is receptive?

Caress him when he wants, not when you want

The main complaint many people have about cats is that they are very independent, but there are times when dogs are too. Many times they go alone in a room or under their favorite chair or sofa, and while we call them eager to give them a caress, they don’t pay us the slightest attention.

In fact, dogs love to be petted, but sometimes they need their space. That’s why they decide when, where and who. However, when they want a caress from us, they stop at nothing  and  seek us relentlessly, until they get what they want.

How they look for your caresses

There are many ways to know how and when your dog wants a pat from you. It all starts at the beginning of the day. When you wake up, or rather when the alarm goes off, your dog hears it before you and runs like a madman jumping on the bed and licking your mouth, nose and ears! Your first reaction is obviously to get angry: “How disgusting!”. You take him back and tell him to be okay.

But here’s Shrek’s Puss-in-Boots look again, and you can’t help but smile and start stroking him as he tosses and turns, gets on his stomach and gets closer and closer to you. Everyone likes to receive affection, but we like to give it to people (or animals) who know how to appreciate it.

When you decide it’s time to get up, the stalking phase begins. Your dog will follow you everywhere, as if asking you: “who told you we were done?”. He’s not hungry, he just wants another caress or two, or, even better, a hundred more.

But now there is no more time, you have to go to work. You give him some food, take him for a walk quickly, give him a few more strokes in the elevator and after another look in the mirror you leave. Close the door and then…. no, you can’t leave without a last caress. You already hear him crying and this makes you feel like a bad person.

You open the door again and your dog looks happy as if he hasn’t seen you for 5 hours. You give him one more pat and assure him that you will be back soon. This time he doesn’t cry when you close the door: he just missed your caress.

When you get home from work, of course, total hysteria starts, followed by a new stalking, until you finish eating. At that point, when you sit down on the sofa, he reappears. He places himself at your feet and demands your caresses. However, during the afternoon, the moment of his independence arrives. That moment when you are overwhelmed by your commitments and suddenly you realize that you have not seen it for some time.

You call him and call him back but he doesn’t come. Didn’t you leave the door open? Begin to search until you see it hidden, as if it is escaping from you, even if this escape does not last long. He immediately returns to your arms.

You cannot avoid it, no matter if it is morning, afternoon or evening, your dog will not be able to go on without your caress. Every time the dog receives a caress from you, he is happy, and happiness is of vital importance!
