If You Don’t Like Cats It’s Because You Don’t Know Them

Indifferent, arrogant, interested. .. And even traitors or selfish. These are some of the adjectives with which some people normally describe little cats. But the truth is, if you don’t like cats, it’s because you don’t know them. For this reason, we at My Animals have decided to write an article to dispel myths and legends about these formidable pets which, in addition to being affectionate and docile, require very little attention.

The bad reputation of cats

Where does this reputation as an obnoxious pet come from ? It is probably only the result of the human tendency to generalize, often giving summary and unmotivated judgments, motivated by the questionable feeling of feeling superior to everything and everyone.

Especially if we think that, unlike dogs, cats were not domesticated by humans. They simply chose to live next to him.

Indeed, if we want to be precise, we can even say that it was cats that tamed humans and not the other way around. However, we will deal with this topic in another article.

Then there is an almost problem of  jealousy, since Homo Sapiens  certainly never digested the fact that an animal managed to escape from its authority, managing to remain autonomous and free even if within the family group.

The mistake of comparing cats to dogs

Following this reasoning, we come to the much-declared difference from the dog. Man’s best friend is often used as a superior animal, as it is apparently more related to man. In reality, we human beings like to have a  subordinate being, just like the  canids who always and in any case do what their master tells them. They are more dependent and that is what makes them ‘preferable’ to cats.

On the contrary,  it is a mistake. You should never compare them: they are two different species, each with its own characteristics and peculiarities.

Therefore, dogs do not have to be a benchmark for measuring the virtues or defects of domestic cats. However, those who do not like little cats do not hesitate a moment in emphasizing superior qualities of the dog, against the innocent cat.

An animal that considers itself equal to man

But controversy aside, it could be said that what humans look for in dogs is that look of submission and respect, as if they were gods to be worshiped. In fact it is just like that: the devoted dog wags its tail and runs as if we were superior entities.

This will never happen with a cat that, if anything, uses humans to feed, receive protection and a very warm bed.

These little cats consider themselves equal to humans. Don’t expect them to ever pay homage to you. Of course, if they want, they too will show you affection and love. But always and when they want it. At this point, are you really sure that your point of view is the correct one?

Are you sure you don’t like cats?

After this long introduction, the time has come to question yourself. Why don’t you try to adopt a little cat or, at the very least, get close and get to know one of some friends? You will be surprised how much this small and docile animal can offer you.

Each piece is different, particular and unique:

• Some cats are calmer, others more outgoing and active.
• Not everyone likes to be independent and run around outside the home. Often your cat will want to lie down on your lap and will seek cuddles and warmth.
• There are those who claim your attention, for example, by walking on your computer keyboard or sitting on the newspaper you are trying to read.
• Still others will want to play and run and hide, others will come to meet you as soon as you get home. If they’re not taking a good nap.

Rest assured, then. They are very communicative animals and will always make you understand what they want and when.

Live happily with a cat

The theme of nails and scratches is often used as a strong argument by those who tend to denigrate small domestic cats. But, unless you use violence against your cat, it will never hurt you by the way.

Also with regard to the needles or meows, typical perhaps during the time when the animal is in heat, all these problems are easily solved with sterilization. Which, moreover, will serve to avoid serious diseases and protect the health of your new four-legged friend.

The advantages of having a cat are many:

• They are relatively easy to care for.
• They can fit in a small house.
• No need to get them out of the house, a normal litter box is enough for their needs.
• They help reduce stress and moderate people’s heartbeat.

What are you waiting for to adopt a cat?

Among the many good reasons to choose a cat as a pet, you may not have known it, but these ancient beings will help improve your health, both physical and mental. Having a cat in the house will reduce anxiety and depression, chase away loneliness and fill the house with joy.

The time has come, dear humans, to get off the pedestal and learn to live with other animals, in addition to dogs, endowed with a fervent intelligence.

If you don’t like cats, get one. You will find that you will no longer be able to live without.
