World’s First Exhibition For Dogs

World's first exhibition for dogs

Dogs are known to listen to music, especially when it comes to good music. In the case of other art forms, however, pet owners have failed to interact with their four-legged friend. However, this new exhibition shows us that this is not the case.

Love for art: dog show

The British association More Than presented an art exhibition for dogs entrusted to the well-known English artist and inventor  Dominic Wilcox.

This multifaceted artist, among other things, draws, paints and creates inventions worthy of any mad scientist. He devised from GPS-equipped shoes that guide you straight home (perfect for one of those wild party nights) to a bi-audio device for hearing city sounds and 3D printers separately.

A curious exhibition for dogs

This dog show is a reflection of this artist’s “controlled madness”. An interactive exhibition / installation that includes a simulator of an open car window called “Cruising Canines”. When they see it, dogs stick their heads out, as they have the sensation of being in motion.

There is also a giant bowl full of balls that has the name of “Dinnertime Dreams (the immediate reaction of the dogs is to go for the balls) and even impressionist paintings of a certain level.

The dog show was presented last summer in London. In one corner of the exhibition there is an area full of bowls from which a jet of water comes out. Dogs run and walk there as they think they are in the park.

The author’s opinion

According to Dominic Wilcox himself, animals are able to appreciate his works on a par with music, since they have been painted with colors, such as blue and yellow, totally visible to them.

Dogs are said to have less developed eyesight than ours and this does not allow them to see details well. The sight of dogs, in fact, is five times lower than that of a human being.

Sight in dogs

If a person is able to distinguish an object or toy 90 meters away, the dog will need to be within 20 meters of it in order to locate it.

Likewise, the spectrum of colors visible to dogs is far lower than ours. It is proven that dogs see the world in two basic shades: blue and yellow. And it can be demonstrated in an exhibition for furry friends.

Our four-legged friends are unable to distinguish between green, red and orange  and, indeed, they don’t see very differently to color blind people.

Experts say dogs are able to recognize images on a screen. They can also distinguish other animals they have never seen before, as they do with different sounds emitted by the TV, such as yelps, voices, etc.

Among a multitude of people appearing on the screen, a dog can clearly distinguish other dogs accompanying the crowd.

A quicker look

It is said that the eyes of dogs capture images faster than ours, for this reason, they could not appreciate at all the old TVs, the ones that showed a lower number of frames per second. The same does not happen with the resolution of modern devices.

The breed or personality of the dog also greatly affects. In this way, Terrier dogs react more to television images than hunting dogs, which are stimulated more by smell than by sight.

Hunting dogs, who are guided by their sense of smell, do not usually show interest in images. On the other hand, so-called shepherd dogs, such as Terriers, feel attracted to what they see on the TV screen. Remember that.

If we want to see how our dog reacts by watching a TV show, perhaps we will only notice coldness. It does not mean that our pet is numb, but that it must be content specially created for him.

Hearing a dog barking on television usually stimulates other viewing dogs. Some not only bark at their peers on the screen, but also run around the appliance, looking for them.
