How to make a dog and a cat get along?

Sometimes  animals misbehave because their territory is threatened. For example, if you already have a dog and then get a cat, your dog may feel that he will lose your love and part of his role in the house.

Exactly the same thing can happen with a cat. So whether you already own an animal or not, there are some tips you need to follow to be successful with this union.

• Formally present them. Don’t come home with your new friend like nothing has happened. The animal already living in the house will realize that something strange is happening and may feel threatened. Enter with your new furry friend in your arms and introduce him to your pet. Leave them alone for a while to see how they behave, and then walk away slowly.

• Everyone must have their own space. Everyone must have their own bowl for drinking and eating, their own kennel in which to sleep, etc. Don’t force them to share things, this could cause problems between them.
• Treat them the same way. It is common for the novelty to catch your attention, as you want the new family member to feel comfortable. However, cuddling one may make the other jealous. Treat them the same way.
• Don’t force them. We know you want them to get along, but if you force them, the relationship will not go well. Let them look for themselves and get to know each other little by little. Over time they will become friends, fear not.
